Every Michigan citizen 18 or older has the right to vote. You can register at any time, vote absentee without giving a reason, and even register on Election Day. Here is how it all works in Clare County.
How to Register to Vote
- Online: Go to Michigan.gov/Vote and follow the prompts. You will need your Michigan driver's license or state ID number.
- By mail: Download a voter registration form from Michigan.gov/Vote, fill it out, and mail it to Clerk Carol Majewski at the Township Hall.
- In person: Visit the Township Hall during office hours. Bring your Michigan driver's license or state ID, or a document showing your name and current address.
- On Election Day: You can register and vote the same day at the Township Clerk's office. Bring proof of residency (driver's license, utility bill, bank statement, or government mail with your name and address).
Absentee Voting
Any registered voter in Michigan can vote absentee. You do not need a reason.
- Request an absentee ballot by submitting an Absentee Ballot Application to the Township Clerk. You can mail it, drop it off, or submit it online at Michigan.gov/Vote.
- Permanent absentee voter list: Ask the Clerk to add you to the permanent list, and you will automatically receive an application before every election.
- Return your ballot by mail or drop it in the ballot drop box at Township Hall. Ballots must be received by 8:00 PM on Election Day.
